Sentex Horizon
Systems
The Horizon Systems combine telephone entry and code access with an electronic LCD
directory for quick access to the prospective person or tenant. The LCD contains large display
fonts and has a very bright backlight to ensure the directory information is easily read in direct
sunlight or total darkness.
The Horizon includes a two-line electronic LCD display that shows a welcoming message and
instructions for operation and allows for the entire directory to be scrolled in less than 10
seconds. Locating the individual is easy since names are automatically placed in alphabetical
order as they are entered. The names and phone numbers can be entered through a lightweight,
compact handheld programmer, the Horizon’s keypad, or the Windows 95/98 based software
which allows communications through a standard phone line to the Horizon’s built-in modem.
Whichever method you select, guided prompts ensure programming time is kept to a minimum.
The Horizon is available in two attractive styles, the "hooded" (H) series or the "molded" (M)
series. Either unit can be installed inside or outside because they are engineered to withstand
harsh weather conditions and typical vandalism. All features and functions are identical except
the "M" series is available only for hands-free applications.
The "H" version is manufactured with a stainless steel faceplate, a painted steel hooded
enclosure, and an internally edge-lit metal keypad with white numbers for excellent night
visibility. The "M’ version sports a sleek, sculpted look making it ideal for a vestibule or
installation where surface mounting is needed but depth is of concern. The enclosure is powder
painted in a neutral charcoal gray and has a black metal keypad with white numbers.
Full-Duplex Communications
Provides crisp clear audio in both directions even in most noisy environments.
Entry Codes
Each resident can be assigned a 4-digit access code that is used to unlock the gate or door. An
additional 10 access codes are provided for vendors or management so the maximum capacity
can be used for tenants.
Long Distance and PBX Dialing
Due to the amount of area codes in a single region, many areas are updating from a 7 digit
dialing sequence to a 10 and 11 digit sequences. The Horizon supports up to 11 digits on a
typical phone system and interfaces seamlessly to a PBX system where extensions are utilized.
Up to a 6-digit extension can be used for PBX type systems.
Extra Name Capacity
A 50% name surplus over the purchased capacity can be utilized to support roommates, shared
office spaces, or multiple last names. Note: only 250 extra names can be accommodated on the
1000 capacity version.
Tone/Pulse Dialing
Each system can be site configured to operate on the two types of available phone lines.
Voice Mail Compatible
The system will accept up to a 6-digit extension for connecting to the appropriate person
mailbox.
Controllable System Relays
Allows the main gate and an auxiliary connection (a second gate or door) to be controlled, such
as opened to let a visitor enter. The relays can be remotely managed from the manager’s
touch-tone phone. Once connected, the relays can be latched open permanently or pulsed from
1 to 99 seconds.
Selectable Scrolling Modes
The user can configure the Horizon to begin the directory listing at the top of the alphabet or
directly in the middle to ensure selection of the correct party is quick.
Internal Modem
Provides the ability to program the telephone entry system via a personal computer from any
remote location with a standard phone line.
Lightning Protection
Physical inputs and telephone line connections contain some protection against typical voltage
spikes, such as phone line variances and lightning. However, in an area where lightning is
prevalent, external surge suppressors should also be used to minimize any power hits to the
unit.
Non-Volatile Memory
In the event power is removed from the unit, the database information will be retained in
memory allowing immediate start-up and operation when power is restored.
OPTIONS
Anti-Glare
The basic Horizon includes a brightly-lit LCD display. But in some installations direct sunlight
can minimize the visitor viewing. In this type application, an anti-glare package should be
installed to prevent the direct exposure.
Stainless Steel Housing (H model only)
The Horizon H come standard with Stainless Steel Faceplates to ensure long lasting beauty and
durability. Now this unit has an option to purchase a Stainless Steel Housing, with gray powder
coat finish. This configuration will increase the resistance to most vandalism and environmental
conditions.
